Cold Colors

May Swenson
Sweetpea
pinks
in the winter.
Sun sets
through thin
windy
branches
dark
like snarled string
over water’s hard
stretched white scratched
skin.
On sky’s
clear royal icy
cheek blush
tints
of spring.
